To establish a strong brand for a mixology startup, developing a logo, designing a brand font, and creating simple brand guidelines will help the founder effectively communicate their vision.
I began my process by compiling a word list that would help generate "Southwestern" ideas. After that, I searched for photos and graphics that complemented these concepts. With this inspiration in hand, I proceeded to write out three distinct concepts to kickstart my logo sketching.

Writing

I sketched many iterations of these ideas, refining and developing them into a more cohesive vision. Ultimately, I narrowed down the concepts to those that fit the direction I felt would work with the client's vision. I created a presentation to communicate my research, concepts, and sketches. During the client review, their feedback was positive; they expressed enthusiasm for all the ideas. However, we decided to focus on the direction that featured the cactus.

After receiving approval for the concept with a few changes, I began the process by digitizing my logo sketch. Next, I developed the brand guidelines to ensure consistency in visual identity. I then dedicated time to sketching and digitizing the Bootstrap font, which involved using Glyphs for the font development.

Font Development

The main challenge was developing concepts in the southwestern aesthetic that had not yet been explored. I believe we landed on something that looks great and is authentic to the client's vision.
This is the first font I designed and developed for a client.
This matching brand font approach will help Bootstrap create a cohesive and polished brand presence.
